Process: Thumbnails

The process of creating this illustration began with sketching several rough thumbnails, each featuring a unique composition and tone. Thumbnail #1 was selected and further developed.

Process: Color Sketches

After the initial thumbnail was selected, I refined the sketch further and created several different color palette options for the author to review.

Process: Pencil Drawing and Creating the Final Illustration

In creating the final illustration, I first began by rendering the illustration with pencil on paper. I then scanned in the pencil drawing at a high resolution and added color and additional detail digitally, bringing the illustration to finish.
